The Saint Lucian Electoral Department on Monday 31st October 2011 launched its new Electoral website. The initiative is aimed at making the voting process easier and providing answers to questions that voters may have.
The Electoral Department site offers a wide range of information to the public catering to a variety of audiences. General, information, Historical information and information for Academic purposes.
The site features the following:-
- Electoral History of Saint Lucia in a summarized form
- The levels of Government in Saint Lucia and an explanation of how each level operates.
- A knowledgebase section featuring: History of Saint Lucia, Government Facts as well as an election time line of key historical events from 1501 –present day.
Some of the main futures of the site include:
General Department Information
Constituencies Section – Which presents the polling divisions and their areas, the constituency boundaries and voting trends in statistical and graphical form.
Enrollment Statistics:
A statistical comparison of the enrolment numbers bases on constituency. This provides an understanding of the shift in variation.
Voter Lookup:
A facility allowing members of the public to verify their registration information with the department. This allows an individual to view the Polling Division in which they are registered under which in turns shows the location where this individual should vote.
Past Election Results:
This is a breakdown of the results from past election in vivid graphical detail. It features a written summary of the elections, statistical results in summary, vote distribution and a seat distribution map.
This site allows and provides more details statistics which presents the results from the polling division level.
